Morgan Horses for Sale

Welcome to Firehouse Farm. Situated on the Central Coast area of California, we are following our dreams of raising excellent “using” Morgan horses and solid Angus cattle.

Firehouse Farm came about because we were looking for an unusual name. We settled on the 1929 Model A fire truck that was Will’s father’s pride and joy. Where else would you have a fire truck than in a firehouse, and Firehouse Farm became our name.

Will’s family had been in the cattle business as ranchers for four generations. In 1999, the last of the family ranches shut down. It was that year that we decided to start our own operation. We began with 3 registered Angus cows and two horses. Since then, both herds have grown in size.

Currently we run a herd sire and grass fed beef program with our cows. We lease properties in our area and rotate our cows through those pastures. We are working closely with the land owners for fire control and pasture improvement. Our goal is to leave the land better than we found it, as well as to put maximum gain on our animals. Young animals who are not used as replacements in our herd are sold for beef. Currently we sell 5-7 head a year to people who are interested in hormone and anti-biotic free meat, and who want to know where their food comes from.

Morgan horses are a tie we have in common. I grew up in the Midwest and since the age of ten have worked with Morgans. I spent many years helping to start colts, exercise horses, grooming and showing. Will’s great Uncle, Edward Vail, bred and owned Morgans. In fact, he bred Tio Lalo, a stallion who was the Working Western ideal, big bone, good hip, great mind. Will’s experience has been with ranch horses, those descended from Morgan stock. When we decided we wanted to raise horses, Morgans were an easy fit. Not only is the history there, but with our diverse life style, they fit right in and do anything and everything. Our goal with our horses is to find a job they do well and work towards improving their performance at that job. All of our horses have a solid grounding in Dressage, whether they are ridden English or Western. On top of that, good manners and a personable attitude is expected. They don’t let us down!
